It’s hard to believe that only a year has gone by since I joined the Edgewood Valley Country Club family.
Though it started a little rough after I was stricken with a bad case of COVID during my first few weeks here, when I reflect on the past year, I am proud of the progress the Club has made. With the support of the Board of Directors, committees, members and staff, the Club had a successful 2022 season and I am excited about what lies ahead.
While every operation of this magnitude has its own challenges, I identified some aspects of the Club that needed to change to better serve the membership. Staffing changes are never easy, but deemed necessary when it comes to fulfilling our operational goals and providing exceptional service. Over the last 12 months, we welcomed some new faces to our core staff and promoted others to serve in management roles. Furthermore, for staff to succeed in providing the highest level of service, I knew we had to give them the right tools to do so, and in turn, updated some of our equipment and operational procedures.
As always, our Board and committees do a great job of representing the memberships’ evolving needs. We do our best to meet every request and have improved inefficiencies across all of our services: dining, golf, swimming and racquets.
One of the most anticipated changes for next season is that going forward, Edgewood Valley will own the Pro Shop. Under the direction of our new Head Golf Professional Mike Pariso, PGA, the shop will offer new and different lines and styles of EVCC merchandise for men, women and children, including golf attire, tennis and paddle clothing, swimsuits and other leisure wear. The Pro Shop will be your only destination needed to get outfitted for the golf course, tennis/paddle courts, pool and casual dining.
As we await the start of the Clubhouse renovation project, the next year will be filled with its own operational challenges, and we are poised to carry our great service forward – no matter the circumstance.
It has been my personal observation that the membership at Edgewood is unmatched. This is a very genuine, passionate, friendly, down-to-earth Club, and on behalf of all the staff, it’s truly a pleasure for all of us to be part of your Club and the Edgewood Valley community.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve as your General Manager. I look forward to the year ahead.
